Which means that the most efficient way to turn a train around is to reverse its direction by about half, and then speed up the reverse half.
This is the same reason why the speed limit of a road bike is usually 15 mph. It is for the same reason why the speed limit of a car is usually 15mph. If you are going faster than 15mph, you need to slow down, and if you are going slower than 15mph, you need to speed up.
