alfonso zayas was born in Peru but lived all of his life in the United States. I just read a great article on his art on the Articulate.

Alphonso Zayas is an internationally known photographer and artist who was born in Peru in 1962. He has lived in the United States since 1993 where he has made his living as a graphic artist, painter, and photographer.
Alfonso Zayas is best known for shooting some of the world’s most beautiful natural landscapes and portraits. His work has been exhibited in Australia, Canada, the United States, and Ecuador. He has also been a regular contributor to magazines in the United States including Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, Home and Garden, Martha Stewart Living, and The New Yorker.
If you’ve ever seen a graphic artist, you know, it’s like the guy who painted the wall of a library, or someone who painted a picture of a man in a tuxedo in the garden. Those are the two pictures that are the main characters and the main characters are two people who have no sense of time, and they don’t even realize they’re there.
Zayas is an amazing graphic artist and he is also a musician. I think its because he is so much more in the present than the past, that he can paint a picture in the context of his time that the time has left him. I would say that his style is not so much a portrait-like style. He paints a picture in his time.
